BOMBSHELL BABY OF BOMBAY features the exciting, sexy
sound of the Bollywood Nightclubs of the 1960s. The nightclub scene was a
welcome excuse to show some sexy dancing and splurge some exciting jazz
and rock’n’roll sounds into the otherwise very prudish Bollywood
films. Whiskey, cigarette smoke and stockings...
accompagnied by wild jazzy dance sounds, Indian style!
The Indian orchestra’s blended effortless the Indian film sound
and Western popular dance music into an extremely energetic, bouncy and
infectious Bollywood mix. This volume features both classic nighclub tunes
like the famous surf rocker
from GUMNAAM and 1,2,3 Baby from KISMAT as well as extremely rare songs
like the beatlesque PRETTY PRIYA and
the scorching title music to BLUFF MASTER.

This is the first volume in the CD series BOMBAY
CONNECTION presenting the best, rarest and most exciting songs from the
colourful history of Bollywood music, most of which are still
gathering dust in the Indian vaults and are unknown to the Western
public. The series is compiled by Bollywood connaisseur, researcher and
top collector EDO BOUMAN who carefully selected the songs, assuring that
each of these tracks are ear-vtantalizing gems and are compiled into a
enjoyable, consistent listen experience.
The BOMBAY CONNECTION series will cover a multitude of exciting
genres that Bollywood saw from the 1950s to the late 80s, including
Bollywood Horror, Hippie Psychedelics, Spy flick suspense music, and
stomping 1980s Indian disco.
The
6 panel digipack comes with a colourfull 30 page booklet containing well
researched info and a wealth of pictures. For the very 1st time extended
research has been done into Bollywood film music. Interviews with
composers and musicians have been conducted, and Bombay Connection has
spared no energy or expense to locate the original stills and posters of
the films. This is also the first Bollywood compilation CD to feature the
Hindi song lyrics and English translations.
Thus the booklet provides a wealth of information and pictures,
sketching the original context in which these songs were made and enjoyed.
