BOMBAY CONNECTION RECORDS
On the 20th of
october 2006 BOMBAY CONNECTION RECORDS presents it’s first two
releases “THE BOMBAY CONNECTION”
and “BOMBSHELL BABY OF BOMBAY”, both containing rare funky
grooves from Bollywood films from the 60s and 70s.
Bombay Connection
was founded by EDO BOUMAN who since over 10 years specializes,
together with fellow collector and cartoonist MILAN HULSING, in
rare and funky Bollywood vinyl of the 60s, 70s and 80s and who became
leading experts in the field. Notwithstanding Bollywood’s popularity the
majority of it’s funky nuggets are still uncovered and a comprehensive,
well documented compilation series is lacking. Thus, Edo Bouman set out to
issue a series of Bollywood’s most funky, infectious and fascinating
grooves. For this series he has dug up for not only the best & rarest
Bollywood grooves, but has also a gathered wealth of information and unique picture material.
The first two
volumes are available on an attractive digipack CD with 30 page booklet
and on luxerious gatefold
double-LP. The first volume “THE BOMBAY CONNECTION” contains the
captivating sound of Indian action funk of 70s and 80s Bollywood action
thrillers. The second volume “BOMBSHELL BABY OF BOMBAY” contains the
infectious grooves of the sexy Nighclub scenes of 1960’s Bolllywood
films: bouncing jazz, surf and rock & rolll with an Indian twist.
These volumes are the first in a long series. Future volumes will cover
many Indian cult genres, among which Hindi Horror, 80s Disco, Hippie
Psychedelics and 60s Spy
music. Coming with 30 page booklets with a wealth of information and
pictures never seen before.
..awesome, bonkers and strangely groovy... These are
the best releases we've seen and heard of this kind.
(JONNY TRUNK in “THE RECORD COLLECTOR”, sept. 2006)
"Rather
bizarre actually - thinking of the cult-status Bollywood has had for quite
some years now …why hasn’t a real good compilation of Bollywood film
music been issued? A few samplers have been released, but none were
as thorough as the records of the two Dutch guys of Bombay-Connection. Let
it be said: The most thorough, best designed and best documented Bollywood
compilation series ever will soon come to us from the east side of
Amsterdam.“

pot in the Dutch daily newspaper DE VOLKSKRANT)
